In the previous point, we had to work but in this one you will practically not have to do anything.
SEMrush's keyword gap tool is pretty magical and does it all for you.
Keyword gap is a tool that was previously called Domain vs. Domain.
If you have been using SEMrush for a while, you probably know it by this name.
Keyword gap allows you to compare up to 5 domains and check which keywords they have in common and which are exclusive to a particular domain.
You can access this tool from the left side menu, a couple of options below the domain overview.
Discover common keywords
Enter the domain name of the competitors you want to analyze and choose the common keywords option in the intersection type.
Content Benchmark - Keyword Gap
You also have the option to filter the type of words you want to analyze.
You can choose between organic keywords, paid keywords, or PLA (Product Listing Ads) campaigns.
The organic keywords option is the one that appears by default and is the most interesting for your content and SEO benchmark.
Actions
1.- Export the list of common keywords between your competitors and your domain.
2.- Create a new tab in your content benchmark and paste the common keywords and positions for each domain.
3.- Use the conditional formatting option and assign different colors to cells according to position ranges.
Example: from 1 to 5 one color, from 6 to 10 another, etc.
Content Benchmark - Table from Keyword gap
In this example, keywords for which a domain appears in the top 3 positions are highlighted in green; email list of australia those between positions 4 and 9 are highlighted in blue (usually completing the first page of Google results) and those appearing on the second page are highlighted in salmon.
By organizing it this way, you can quickly visualize the words with the greatest potential to overtake your competitors or those that you need to work on to maintain their position.
Discover exclusive keywords
Just as valuable as common words are the so-called exclusive words, that is, those words for which only one of the domains being compared ranks.
The most interesting thing here is not to see a comparison between all the domains, but which words are unique to each competitor.
Use Keyword Gap to discover “unique” content opportunities
