How CTA Works in Emails

Unlike other emails, marketing emails are only effective if the customer ultimately makes a purchase. But they will only decide to buy something if you can give them a compelling reason to do so. CTAs tell people what to do next. They are placed in the copy where readers would typically ask, “What do I do next?” These buttons and links directly answer the question. Most importantly, they encourage recipients to quickly act on what you want them to do.

For example, imagine that your goal with email newsletters is to increase sales of a certain product. Your email should contain a description of this product and its benefits. You can even attach reviews from previous customers. But the best way to push customers to buy is to have a CTA button that says, for example, “Order now . ”

Omnisend’s analysis of 229 million emails sent during Black Friday shows that emails with 2-3 CTAs have higher click-through rates than emails with more than 3 CTAs. Also, don’t overcomplicate your CTAs. According to the same Omnisend, using the classic “buy now” is the most popular and at the same time has one of the best click-through rates.
