First, check your storage usage by going to Settings > Storage and Data > Manage Storage. Here, you’ll see a breakdown of space used by chats, media, and forwarded files.

Delete large files by tapping “Larger than 5 MB” and selecting Build a Dashboard with WhatsApp Data unwanted content. You can also clear chat-specific data under whatsapp number database each contact or group.

Disable automatic media downloads in Settings > Storage and Data. Choose “No Media” for mobile data and roaming to avoid unnecessary downloads. You can still view media manually when needed.

Periodically clear chats that are no longer important. Go to the chat, tap the three-dot menu, and choose “Clear Chat.” This removes messages while keeping the conversation open.

To reduce data buildup, avoid forwarding unnecessary videos or memes and consider sending compressed images using document mode instead of regular media.
