WhatsApp introduced end-to-end encrypted backups, an optional feature that secures your backups with a password or 64-digit encryption key. Without this password or key, no one — not even WhatsApp — can access your backups.
To enable this:
Go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup > End-to-end Encrypted Backup.
Tap Turn On and follow the steps to create your password or key.
Still, cloud storage has risks. If someone gains whatsapp number database access to your Google or Apple account, your backups could be compromised. Use two-factor authentication (2FA) and a strong password to minimize risk.
Overall, cloud storage is safe — as long as you take the extra step of encryption and protect your account credentials.
Sharing WhatsApp data — whether it’s chats, images, or files — should always be done with security in mind. Here’s how to share WhatsApp data safely without exposing sensitive content.
