SAP SE today announced the results of a survey of healthcare executives conducted by Porter Research on behalf of SAP . The main results that emerged:
In 2019, healthcare systems will focus on addressing increasing cost pressures, largely stemming from declining reimbursements, along with improving the patient experience as the consumerization phenomenon continues to intensify and expand into new areas.
Healthcare system leaders believe that key steps to shop reducing costs and improving the patient experience include improving operational efficiency, interoperability, increasing data visibility, and developing new models for building patient relationships.
Healthcare organizations are therefore investing most in this direction: investing in solutions to support financial departments, improve patient engagement , enable interoperability, and provide data visibility across the enterprise.
“Healthcare leaders are targeting their technology investments to continue to improve the patient experience and reduce overall costs ,” said Dr. Werner Eberhardt, global head, SAP Healthcare. “ These findings highlight their key needs, concerns and challenges—information that healthcare technology should consider as a whole. As a partner, we play a critical role in helping healthcare organizations bend the cost curve and improve patient benefits . ”
