by the Prime Minister, approved by the Georgian Dream's one-party parliament, that Georgia will not open EU accession negotiations until 2028, the government's crackdown on peaceful protesters, illegal arrests, and restrictions on freedom of speech and expression by businesses were followed by the Freebusiness.ge initiative, which is a petition by businesses that the country needs early parliamentary elections to overcome the current crisis.


A total of 2,421 businesses have joined this initiative. According to the amendment, the profit tax for companies that hold a license to operate online gambling will increase from the current 15% to 20%. According to the explanatory note to the initiative, this amendment will result in an additional 115 million GEL in the budget. Gambling companies, and in particular those firms that provide gambling services to customers electronically, are taxed under a different profit tax regime than other sectors.
