F1 driving experience and a few show cars too. This little display, featuring the classic British Mini by SMEG caught my eye. Slightly bizarre, but I love a cute little classic car!
retouchI visited the Lounge Garden, created by Ben Harrison as his entry into this year’s Grand Designs Live Garden Designer of the Year Award. Keep watching for a post dedicated to this awesome garden, but for now, enjoy the bold and brilliant colour scheme and pretty blooms. And yes, those bean bags were as comfy as they look! If you can’t wait, then check out our interview on his Inside-Out Garden for last year’s competition.
day2I’m currently looking for fabric inspiration as I’m in the middle of a couple of upholstery projects. Porterhouse & Stone has a lovely section dedicated to sumptuous looking sofas. But, the most interesting part of the display to me were the array of fabrics they used in their designs. I love these different tartan wollen weaves in contrasting winter and summer colours.
Screen Shot 2014-05-11 at 17.42.03This is my whatsapp number list dream bed. It’s made by Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Co. and I had to stop to snap a picture of it. While I did, I had a chat with one of the owners, who told me about the family business. It’s refreshing to hear about how traditional family businesses are still thriving now, and their ‘handmade in Britain‘ ethos definitely adds to the company’s charm. This bed is the Elizabeth, shown here in ivory and brass.
day4The Breeze House; one of my firm favourite exhibitors since my first trip to Grand Designs Live 2012. I wrote a full post on them back when I first discovered this lovely little idea, but this year I couldn’t resist revisiting their stall. I left dreaming of a tropical retreat, surrounded by sunshine and pretty cushions…
